Junior Section round Up: Saturday 21st October

Another great week for the girls and some tough games but really good performances. Our U9’s didn’t have an official fixture, but I believe they played a friendly (let me know in future and happy to include details). The U10’s were very happy with their performance away at Dronfield Town even though they may not have had the rub of the green.

Here is a great report from U11’s parent David Gillett about their game at Bawtry road against Kiveton Park (please note that no results or scorers mentioned-well done and more than happy to use this type of report from any of the younger teams.)

“Win, lose or draw today’s game was another nail biter with plenty of action to keep us parents enthralled. Plenty of positives to take from the game and loads to bring back to the training ground. There were some vast improvements from some individuals who recently have stepped up their effort which has brought rewards. The girls played as a unit today showing good formation with plenty of chances created. Their defence kept position which enabled the other areas of the field to push forward when the opportunity arose. Overall fantastic effort and commitment from all the girls!! Great support from the parents of both teams and thank you to Richard Phillips and Kyriakos Sokratous for their persistence in the development of the girls as a team!!”

No game this week for the U12’s but our U13’s had a great 6-2 win over Rovers Foundation also at Bawtry Road. Scorers: Lily-May Beevers (2) Maisie Langley (2) Brooke Betts & Maaria Khan.

After last week’s tough 4-4 draw in a great game with Huddersfield, our U14’s got back to winning ways with a 4-1 away win over Doncaster Belles. Scorers: Neve Renwick (3) & Molly Hutchinson.

The U15’s hosted Sheffield FC winning 5-2, manager lee south reports: “Game day 7 for the girls v last season’s runners up Sheffield FC, the second time we have met this season. With the wind behind them the girls started the game really well, pegging Sheffield back in their half for most of the 1st half. Created numerous scoring chances and eventually took the lead when a great cross was finished by Jessica Sutton. The girls doubled their lead when great work from Millie Simms saw her round the keeper who then brought her down for a penalty. Millie stepped up and finished to make it 2-0 at the break. Sheffield FC got themselves back in the game from a preventable corner. A nervy period followed but the girls defended well. Delia Hurdiss made it 3-1 before slotted home a penalty 3-2. The girls responded and goals from Jess and Clara Miller wrapped up the game 5-2.

A greatly contested game where our U16’s may feel they should have got all 3 points but the game is never over until it’s over, a good solid 2-2 draw against fellow title challengers Sheffield Utd. They led 1-0 at the break with scorer’s Jasmine Hewitt & Amy Nowell.

Finally, a good 7-0 away win for our U18’s who were 3-0 up at half time against Chesterfield. They went on to score another 4 goals with scorer’s: Tia Stancil (2) Caitlin Roberts (2) Abbie Rutledge, Leah Hartley & Millie Bethel.

Well done everyone! UTO! #oneteam
