Junior Round Up: Saturday 26th November

A busy day at Bawtry road and across the region with all 9 of our junior teams in action.

It’s the usual story of our U9’s, 10’s & 11’s all playing but not having results reported. All 3 teams were at home with the 9’s playing Penistone Church, the 10’s hosting Wickersley Blue and our U11’s hosting Brampton. Their game was abandoned with 5 minutes remaining with our girls & coaches exemplary in their dealings with the situation.

Also at Bawtry road our U12’s still top their league with a 4 point lead and games in hand despite being held to a 1-1 draw with a very good Wickersley team. Our girls trailed 1-0 at the break with a goal from Aaliyah Whitworth rescuing the point in the second half.

Molly and the U13’s are now joint top of the division with 30 points after their 4-2 win away at Rovers Foundation. Scorers: Lily-May Beevers, Rayanne Haywood (2) & McKenzie Scott.

Our U14’s were involved in a great game against Barnsley at Bawtry road. Our girls failed to score for the first time this season but no complaints as Barnsley deserved their victory.

Another derby day victory for the club with the U15’s winning 4-1 away at Sheffield Utd after leading 3-0 at half time. Our girls now sit 8 points clear at the top of the league with nearest challengers Doncaster Belles with 2 games in hand. Scorers: Jessica Sutton with a hat trick and Alivia Chambers netting too.

Our U16’s had a tough game away at Rotherham Whitehill, they led 1-0 at the break with Whitehill equalising in the 2nd half before our girls hit the winner for a 2-1 result. Scorers: Katrina Bennett & Olivia Mellor.

Finally our U18’s suffered a rare defeat against league leaders Sheffield FC, they were behind 3-0 at half time but a better second half meant the score finished 5-2. Scorers: Amber Kelly & Sarah Marshall.

Well done everyone, a mixed bag of results but some great performances despite that. Also well done to those teams that wore Rainbow laces in support of the FA’s anti-homophobic campaign.
