SWLFC Development Squad 2019/20 Season Review:

Here  we look at our Ladies Development Squad, who had a great campaign spearheaded by managers John Hammond and Gary Awdas, a season that looked destined for silverware...

Gary Awdas reports....
"Our first match of the season wasn't the best start, even though we was playing lovely football in a end to end game against Worsborough it was 5-5 coming to the last 10/15 mins and we ended up losing out to late goals .

This seemed to just spur us all on for the rest of the season as we knew we should never had lost, what followed was win after win giving us a record of P14 W13 D0 L1 .

Our striker's amazingly finished 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the league's top goal scorers Halima Essa (30) Hannah Jackson (26) Millie Simms (21).

While playing the same formation every week we had to move players into various positions due to loads of injuries including our keeper Courtney Tingle. This didn't change the quality of the football the ladies were producing it got better and better every week with a fantastic team spirit on and off the pitch.

The match of the season for me was our Shield semi-final against first division Sheffield United Community ladies. Although playing extremely well we went in 0-2 down at half time also losing our keeper Courtney due to injury. No heads dropped and the ladies came out in the second half scoring three goals while outfield player's covered in the net 3-2 winners in the end!

I have no doubt with a 15 point lead (albeit 2nd place having games in hand) we would have gone on to win the league and may be a double with us being in the shield final. (Latest news is that the Shield Final may still be played prior to next season starting)

Thanks to Emily Darwin. Abbie South, Skye Mara & Megan Hammond for all playing a game each due to all the injuries .

The ladies played amazing football , trained extremely well , match days were always up beat and positive. The Team will always be Champions in my eyes, this season has been a pleasure for myself and John to manage this fantastic bunch of players."

Chisom Agbanelo, Bethany Awdas, Shannon Brown, Halima Essa, Raqia Essa, Laura Gilmore, Nicole Hague, Tabitha Harrison, Hannah Jackson, Rachel McCall, Ella Mcgrorey, Cara Robinson, Millie Simms, Courtney Tingle, Molly Trotter, Eleanor Vessey (c) Elizabeth Walker & Isobel Wragg.

See you all Soon, Stay Safe Everyone! #oneteam
