Derby Day away win for us today !

9 goals last week but for me this was a much better result in the circumstances. A totally different back three than usual consisting of midfielders / wingers, apart from Molly Trotter playing at centre half with a heavily strapped up ankle managed to play the first half before having to come off. With five players missing we rotated midfield and both wings to try and keep legs fresh on a lumpy, long grassed pitch. Unfortunately we went 1-0 down after 15 mins with heavily deflected goal. The ladies stepped it up and Kayha Williams pulled it back to 1-1 with a lovely run into the box rounding the keeper. 10 mins later Raqia Essa got her first goal of the season putting away from a corner. Unfortunately a bit of a mix up at the back let United pull it back to 2-2.

Half time: 2-2

The second half again the players put plenty of hard work in creating lots of chances and on the 53 mins Halima Essa made it 3-2 before Hannah Jackson got number 4. Some late pressure from United but the ladies again defended really well to say most out of position.

I would like to give a special mention to Molly Wilde our youngest player at 16 who's dad sadly passed away earlier this week , she played Infront of the back 3 in midfield and finished the game at centre half looking a tower of strength such a brave young lady!
