With no game for our senior side this past weekend, it meant some of our junior teams had an opportunity to enjoy the limelight on Halloween weekend.

There were six games on tap for Saturday morning, with the U18s, U16s, U15s, U13s U11 Blues and U9s all in action.

The U18s kicked things off in commanding fashion, moving up to sixth in the Division Two table after a comfortable 6-1 win against Maltby Main.

After starting the season with a pair of 1-0 defeats, the 18s have now bagged back-to-back wins to begin moving up the standings.

Manager Christian Dunn’s side did the damage in a strong opening 45, establishing a 5-1 lead before tacking on a final goal after the break.

Dannii Brassington and Caitlin Walker both scored two goals each, with Cody Harrison and Eve Bamford rounding out the scoring in that one.

The U16s also scored a half dozen as they beat Barnsley FC Ladies 6-3. Enjoying a quick start, the Owls came flying out of the blocks to score three goals in the opening 20 minutes.

That led to a half time score of 4-1, with the hosts then fending off a late Barnsley fight back to seal all three points.

Christiana Smith (2), Melissa Wilson (2), Alexandra Wyborn and Kara Bennett scored the goals for SWLFC, with the win moving the Owls up to third in the table.

The U15s came unstuck against unbeaten Wickersley Youth Blue, with the Rotherham side coming out on top 5-1.

Kelsey Spink-Robinson’s 14th goal of the season was the lone strike for SWLFC, who currently sit third in the eight team U15 D1 table.

The U13s saw off SJR Worksop 3-0, with Aimee Herbert getting the Owls underway quickly in that one with a superb long range strike.

Sienna Picken then got her first goal for the club to make it 2-0, before Mia Page put away a tap in to round out the scoring.

The victory was the U13s first since the opening game of the season, despite a number of bright performances. They’re currently 5th after seven games.

In the younger age groups, our U11 Blues played at home to Charnock Ridgeway Red, and the U9s played away to Wickersley Youth Red. Well done to both those sides.
